On the brink of a new quarter...it's daunting to me how fast that the past two years have flown by. I've got just over a year left before I graduate, and am finally to the point where they want me to pick a photographic career path (which has always been difficult for me...can't I do it all??) I guess being decisive is something I need to work on...so in leu of having to pick what I want the rest of my classes to be like, I have honed in on landscape and travel photography as my chosen subject matter. Especially after last quarter being locked in on my chosen subject for the entire class, which was an amazing exercise. It forced me to think about new and interesting ways to apply what I was doing to landscape photography to get unique photos.
NYC was fun, but freezing cold... it was -2 on new years eve, so we watched the ball drop from inside instead of standing in times square. I went out to shoot one day that I was there, but I only took my diana camera and one roll of film, and focused on multiple exposures on the same frame to emphasize the business of the city. Haven't had a chance to develop those yet...might post a few of them on here if I like what I got.
This year has quickly become about managing trips for me. I have offered to go on a 9 day trip to France in June with my old art teacher who is taking her A.P. art class at the end of the school year just like she took mine 3 years ago. Never been to France, so it should be an exciting trip. Then, I'm off to Ghana and Rwanda for 17 days to go on a gorilla safari, which should be an amazing experience (not too excited about all the vaccinations that i have to get to be able to go though...I hate needles

) I might connect there through Cairo too, and spend a day or two there checking out all the pyramids... So I've got to find a way to convince my department chair to let me stay in classes while I'm off somewhere taking photos. (They have some bizarre 2 week rule thing...) Maybe he'll be cool with it, who knows...
Upgrading to the new CS4 this quarter, which should be fun...I hear that it's got a bunch of cool new features to learn, so I'm excited.

Hope all is well
